Healthy Tips
Build a calm routine for recovery.
Recovery often needs patience, observation and steady support. A simple plan can help the client and family know what to expect each day.

Support recovery one day at a time
- Follow the discharge instructions and keep appointments, prescriptions and contact numbers organised.
- Allow regular rest while encouraging safe, gradual activity when approved by the care team.
- Observe changes in pain, wound appearance, temperature, breathing, alertness or mobility.
- Keep the recovery area clean, comfortable and easy to move around.
- Write down questions and changes so they can be discussed clearly at follow-up.
- Ask for help with bathing, meals, transfers or medication routines when the family is stretched.
Know when to escalate
Follow the person's discharge advice and contact the treating team urgently for severe or worsening symptoms, heavy bleeding, breathing difficulty, chest pain or sudden confusion.
